An Ode To Artie

Cats, Funny Business

Artie

.

Sitting stoically while being dressed in baby clothes,

Looking forlorn cradled in the arms of a preschooler,

Waiting patiently to be released

from the dresser drawer you were stuffed in a couple hours ago.

You are the most patient cat in the world.

.

You would prefer a nap, no one disturbing your slumber,

But you will tolerate sticky hands petting you the wrong way instead.

Never biting, scratching, or complaining,

Sometimes giving very human looks of disappointed resignation,

You are the most patient cat in the world.

.

Your purr rumbles loudly as you insist on being pet,

Positioning your head against any willing hand.

Elevator butt when someone hits the right spot,

Putting up with a loud, not-so-gentle family is worth it

For the most patient cat in the world.

.

For any literary critique on my poetry, please keep in mind I know I am not a poet. This “poem” was just a vessel for the funny picture of my long-suffering cat. 🙂
